Day 1: Nairobi - Arusha

After a short tour briefing by Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris representative, we will depart Nairobi in the early morning at 8.30 am. Our journey will take us across the border into Tanzania, arriving in the picturesque town of Arusha in time for lunch. Arusha sits at the foot of rugged Mount Meru, and is the gateway to most of Tanzania's safari areas. Our afternoon will be spent at leisure.

Day 2: Lake Manyara

After breakfast, we continue to Lake Manyara National Park, famed for its tree-climbing lions, vast flocks of flamingoes, and abundance of elephants, hippos and water birds. Our afternoon will be spent game viewing as we take a scenic drive around the park.

Day 3, 4: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast on Day 3, we will be transferring to the infamous Serengeti National Park. This park is to Tanzania, what the Masai Mara Game Reserve is to Kenya. Covering 14,763 sq km, the Serengeti NP is dominated by vast, open plains with an abundance of wildlife. A picnic lunch will be provided en route, and the afternoon will be spent viewing game and absorbing the breathtaking scenery of the almost treeless plains of the Serengeti. After an early breakfast on Day 4, we will proceed on an early morning game drive, returning for a hearty lunch. After a brief rest, there will be an afternoon game drive to further explore this world-famous park.

Day 5, 6: Ngorongoro Crater

On Day 6, we will transfer to the Ngorongoro crater, via Olduvai Gorge. Ngorongoro is an impressive 20 km wide volcanic crater with 600 m walls. The views from the crater rim are breathtaking, and there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife, due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Olduvai Gorge is famed for the discovery of 3.5 million year-old fossil fragments of an early human civilization. We will enjoy lunch overlooking the crater, and the afternoon will be spent at leisure. On Day 6, we will embark on a half-day crater tour,

Day 7: Depart Dar (B)    6-7 hrs drive  450kms

After breakfast we will transfer back to Nairobi for your flight home. Your tour with Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris ends in Nairobi in the afternoon. Please note: While it is our intention to adhere to the route described above, there is a certain amount of  flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable to make alterations.

  • Each 4x4 Toyota Hiace minivan carries safari accessories including window sills, a first-aid kit, an ice-chest, and a fire extinguisher.
